Warhammer 40k News, Rumors and Reviews

This year is the year of assaulting armies, or well that is what Games Workshop has planned. January the infamous Tyranid codex came out giving nids new ways to slice and dice their opponents, and they even have their own drop pod : O!! Next, Blood Angels are up to bat to get a new codex. Now I am not a big fan of space marines but the Blood Angel’s minidex was down right confusing. No definition for hurricane bolter and other problems plagued the codex. Now with Space Wolves out, I am wondering how they will differentiate the close combat geared Blood
Angels from their furry brothers. Then, in September it is rumored that Orks are getting an all new codex. Nids, Blood Angels, and Orks all in one year… maybe mech is taking a back seat to assaulting given how 5th edition rules work favoring vehicles and causing assault/foot armies to think differently on how they play.
Here are somethings I hope to see/rumors in the Blood Angels Codex (ever blogger out there does this so I am too, but mine is less I WANT EVERYTHING and more how to make Blood Angels Space Marines but a different flavor).
- Rumored army wide furious charge. So, Blood Angels will be Space Marine versions of Orks or Khorne demons? What is the use of an assault squad if everyone and their battle brother has furious charge? Now, I heard that veteran assault squads are being nixed for “Exalted” Assault Squads. How to make these guys better at close combat if everyone has furious charge? Fleet of foot? Counterattack? I have no clue how an army wide furious charge rule will effect these guys. I mean I do agree that Blood Angels need their own chapter tactics and Imperial Fist/Crimson Fists have Stubborn and other chapter tactics use universal special rules likewise so it makes sense if they have furious charge. However, how will this effect the points values of Blood Angels who are already over-costed due to death company?
- I would like to see Blood Angel drop pods have the ability to allow the space marines they contain to assault out the turn they come into play. Balancing issues wise, they can cost more points, or have other drawbacks to insure that this ability isn’t abused. I am just thinking how to make Blood Angels more stabby than their rival space marines.
- New vehicles a skimmer has been tossed around which I think would be nice. Over charged engines would still be awesome and maybe as a option rather than a mandatory choice for rhinos.
New models are also coming out for the Imperial Guard which is amazing. Two have been confirmed.
New Chimera - the old one has been taken down from the GW site
New Basilisk - Hopefully has options for a Medusa, Colossus, and Griffin.
I really wish that this model will come out.
Manticore, Hydra, and Deathstrike Missile Launcher kit - has options for all three chimera chassie based vehicles if it costs about 50 dollars it would be worth if for about 4 spures or so.
